From November 14-15, 2024, the 4th Point of Care Africa International Colloquium was held in Cape Town, South Africa. Global experts, scholars, and industry leaders gathered to discuss the practical applications and future advancements of POCT technology. As a key partner of the conference, Wondfo hosted a dedicated forum on the applications of POCT in precision and primary healthcare. The company also showcased its glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c) and coagulation POCT solutions, drawing significant attention from professional attendees.

The forum titled “POCT in Primary Care”. Wondfo invited multiple experts and scholars to deliver insightful presentations. “Rapid and accurate diagnosis improves patient outcomes,” emphasized Dr. T. Pillay, a professor at Wits Medical School, Johannesburg, during his keynote speech on “POCT Troponins and Their Impact in Diagnosing Myocardial Infarction” He highlighted the critical role of troponin POCT testing in identifying myocardial infarction.


 
Prof. A. Zemlin from Stellenbosch University explored the evidence of POCT for HbA1c in diabetes management, presenting clinical cases and research that demonstrated how it can help primary care physicians optimize blood glucose control strategies. Prof. G. Davison from Cardio-Metabolic Health Research Unit, Cape Town, delved into the application of POCT in coagulation testing and monitoring, particularly for patients on anticoagulant therapy. Prof. Z. Chapanduka, also from Stellenbosch University, discussed the Point of Care in diagnostic hematology, including the miniaturization of devices and the exploration of new biomarkers.
