Wondfo Launches HIV Self-Testing Campaign in Uganda

November 15,2024 (Edit) Wondfo
In an impactful collaboration with Uganda’s Ministry of Health and Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA), Wondfo Biotech has launched a pioneering initiative to promote HIV self-testing among bodaboda riders and market vendors in Uganda. These groups, often underserved and at higher risk for HIV, are central to the campaign's focus on increasing early diagnosis and reducing transmission rates.

The Wondfo HIV Self-Test is a user-friendly, single-use kit that provides results from a finger-stick blood sample in just 15 minutes, enabling individuals to check their HIV status privately and conveniently. This accessibility encourages regular testing, especially among men who may face some barriers in traditional healthcare settings.

To maximize reach and impact, the campaign takes self-testing kits, counseling services, and educational resources directly to urban communities. Audiovisual trucks display HIV prevention messages to raise awareness, while on-the-ground teams distribute free HIV self-test kits and offer counseling support.

Dr. Diana Atwine, Permanent Secretary at Uganda’s Ministry of Health, highlighted the importance of Wondfo’s support, noting, “This collaboration will be instrumental in breaking down barriers to HIV testing and treatment, bringing healthcare closer to vulnerable populations and bridging critical healthcare gaps.”

Racing for Life, Wondfo will continue to advancing health outcomes in underserved communities through innovative, accessible, and reliable diagnostic solutions.
